Dim lighting and a low hubbub set off an excited atmosphere as soon as you walked into the Wulfrun. Everyone was so eager and tense and made no effort to hide it.
The bar was filling up with people trying to get a drink in before the first act whilst others piled to the front like wild animals
It got even more intense as All Forgotten, the first support, came out onto stage. They were a bunch of good looking lads, so I could fully understand all the woos and cheers.
Id never heard of the band before, as Im guessing others didnt around me as they werent singing along. However, I could pick out all the hardcore fans there singing, head banging and jumping to the tracks. All Forgotten had a heavy sound and their tracks allowed the singer to use the stage and make an energetic performance.
Unfortunately I couldnt hear any of the song titles; however they werent naming all their tracks.
They played well and really set off the night for an amazing evening of music
The second support was Cars On Fire, from Bristol. More people seemed to recognise these guys.
They were a lot heavier than the previous group and got the crowd going even more. There was MORE head banging and MORE jumping as the band were all moving around and jumping into the crowd themselves
I managed to catch titles of their songs like Hall of Skeletons and The Antagonist.
They were all wearing black to match. Very swarve
I felt like it was such an honour to watch this band. They were very clever in the way they performed. People that didnt know them were joining in with the havoc of crowd surfers. Incredible to watch
The Xcerts were next up. I felt sorry for them that they had to compete with two very good bands who had each given a good fight for best support. However, I had no need to worry, even though the previous bands had left a lingering atmosphere of excitement and exhaustion, The Xcerts carried it on. They compared themselves as pansies to the other guys. True they are more You Me at Six than Megadeath but they had a metal undertone and everyone seemed to enjoy them. I thought they were the best overall band, lovely band with beautiful tracks. They were joking with the crowd even though everyone was so restless for Fightstar by the time they came up.
While waiting for their appearance, my friend and I stood our ground over our front row position. Everyone was trying to get to the front to get to the front ready to yell at Charlie, Alex, Dan and Omar, the typical young teenage promises, I Love You or I Want You. Some people
Before Fightstar came out the lights went dark, TVs on stage turned onto fire, smoke came up. A mans rough tones came through the speakers. Everyone was too eager to listen to what was being said. I could feel the people ready to rock and to scream for the boys and when it came to it, they didnt disappoint.
Charlie started with hows Wolverhampton tonight before getting into the first few notes of War Machine off the new album.
I noticed Charlie wearing a Cars On fire Tee, I love the way even the big shots were supporting the little known.
The boys then progressed onto Chemical Blood, Mercury Summer and Blood is Black off the new album and new edition of the Album. Throughout everyone was screaming and moshing together. Every boy and girl in the place was having a blast and it was great to be a part of it. Fightstar also did many of their old songs which surprised me. They did Paint Your Target, Sleep Well Tonight and Palahniuks Laughter and Grand Unification Part 1. I must comment on Dans light -up bass, Alexs shiny guitar and Omars amazing set of drums (all the nuts were red and the rest black). They were set for a storm of a show and they truly gave it.
Charlie kept talking to the crowd. I dont know about anyone else but it made me really feel like a part of the performance, like it was being performed to just me. Every minute was truly special, even more so when Fightstar left the stage and everyone began to chant as one We want Fightstar
Of course the boys came back, how could they resist They did an awesome Deftones cover and Tannhauser Gate.
They are a seriously amazing band to see live. It was quite hard to watch three support acts as I was so eager to see Fightstar that by The Xcerts I was so restless. But all support were amazing and Fightstar were out of this world. Thanks for a killer show Wolverhampton Civic It seems Charlie is a whole world away from Busted now.
